The brain can change itself in ways that we had never imagined.

What is Neurofeedback?

What Neurofeedback Can Help With

Why People Choose Neurofeedback

Quantitative Electroencephalography (QEEG) Neurofeedback is a modality (type) of Biofeedback.  With neurofeedback, practitioners are able to identify where your levels of brain activity are and if they are deviated from normal.  Too much or too little activity of certain brain waves can contribute to different mental health symptoms.  By utilizing neurofeedback, you can work on regulating your deviated brain frequencies to help reduce symptoms, enhance your performance, or become more mindful and aware of yourself (Collura, 2014, p. xiii).

Why People Choose Neurofeedback

Many individuals and families choose neurofeedback because it offers:

  • A natural, drug-free option for improving emotional and cognitive functioning
  • Long-term benefits, as the brain learns lasting self-regulation skills
  • A personalized, data-driven experience, using qEEG/brain mapping to guide treatment
  • A non-invasive process suitable for children, teens, and adults
  • Support for complex concerns that have not fully responded to traditional therapies alone

What Neurofeedback Can Help With

What Neurofeedback Can Help With

Research and clinical practice show that neurofeedback can help improve:

  • Trauma and PTSD Symptoms
  • Anxiety and Racing Thoughts
  • Depression and Mood Regulation
  • ADHD and Attention Difficulties
  • Sleep Problems and Chronic Stress
  • Headaches/Migraines
  • Emotional Reactivity and Irritability
  • TBI/Concussions
  • Support for Substance Use Recovery

Neurofeedback is not a cure, but it helps the brain achieve greater balance, flexibility, and stability, leading to improved daily functioning/well-being.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@osagevalleycounseling.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Insurance does not cover Neurofeedback Brain Training.  We accept HSA cards and Care Credit, in addition to traditional methods of payment.  We also have flexible payment plans available to assist with affordability.

Yes.  We encourage you to continue taking any prescribed medications as directed by your doctor, as well as, notify your doctor that you are starting Neurofeedback.  It is not uncommon, that medication doses will need to be adjusted throughout the duration of training sessions, and we are happy to assist with coordinating with your medical team as needed.

Typically, a single Neurofeedback session lasts 20-30 minutes.  For lasting results, an average of 20-40 sessions will take place over 4-6 months.  We suggest 3 sessions per week for 2-3 weeks, then you can reduce to 2 sessions per week for the remaining duration.

Research has shown Neurofeedback to be very effective for most people.  There are circumstances that could arise which could limit the positive changes taking place.  Some of these limitations include ongoing recreational drug use, inability to make healthy changes, continuing to engage in other harmful/maladaptive coping skills.  We encourage the client to continue with psychotherapy while participating in Neurofeedback in order to maintain support for healthy change.

Neurofeedback is appropriate for all ages!  It is non-invasive and effective for many conditions that arise in childhood through adulthood.
